Juric replaces Gasperini as Atalanta head coach

Atalanta have appointed Ivan Juric as their new head coach, following Gian Piero Gasperini’s departure.

Gasperini ended his nine-year stay in Bergamo on May 31 and was announced as Roma’s new head coach on Friday.

Just hours later, Atalanta announced Juric as his replacement on a two-year contract through to June 2027.

The Croatian was sacked by Southampton in April, just one day after their relegation to the Championship was confirmed.

Juric, who had replaced Russell Martin in December, was in charge for just 108 days at St. Mary’s and won just two of his 16 Premier League games in charge (D1 L13), with the Saints averaging 0.4 points per game under him.

His appointment sees him return to Italy, where he spent all of his career before joining Southampton.

Overall, Juric has taken charge of 249 Serie A matches. He most recently spent just under three months in charge of Roma, winning just four games, with that job following a three-year stay at Torino.
