Manchester City are interested in signing Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise, according to Bild journalist Christian Falk.
Writing on his FC Bayern Insider website, Falk said that the Cityzens are keeping close tabs on the Frenchman’s situation, along with Liverpool, but it could cost a substantial sum to prise him away from the Allianz Arena:
“Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are watching him very, very closely. And because Bayern bought the player for €60m [£52.3m] from Crystal Palace, if an interested party pays a price over the €100m [£87.2m] mark.”
“Bayern Munich have to think about it. But they want to keep him, and now they’re trying to give him a new contract so that they don’t lose him.”
Olise would add depth on the right wing
City are expected to hand Savinho a new contract, while they also have Oscar Bobb as another option on the right flank. However, neither is particularly experienced, and there are doubts over whether the pair can add end product to their game.
In contrast, Olise is already an elite footballer, having scored 24 goals and contributed 27 assists in 63 appearances since moving to Bayern at the start of last campaign.
Man City will have competition for the player
As mentioned, Liverpool are expected to be in the mix for Olise. They are obviously looking for a long-term successor to Mo Salah. The Egyptian will still have another year left on his contract next summer, so City may have the edge if they do choose to make an offer before the start of next season.
It should also be pointed out that Chelsea have tried and failed to sign the 23-year-old on two separate occasions, so you can’t rule out the Blues reviving their interest as well.
