Man City midfielder Nico Gonzalez was one of the standout performers as the Cityzens came from 1-0 down against Swansea to secure their passage through to the Carabao Cup quarter-final.
The Spaniard has had a tough time since arriving from Porto last January, but he put in an eye-catching display, completing the most passes, as well as winning the most tackles and duels.
Supporters on X are delighted that Nico is finally living up to expectations after taking a very long time to adapt to his new club:

Guardiola has paid tribute to Nico
Speaking in his post-match interview on Wednesday night, manager Pep Guardiola was quick to single out the 23-year-old for the progress he has made:
“Now he’s fundamental for us. Defensively, he helped us a lot. We have an incredible lot of players offensively that don’t have the mentality to defend – not because they don’t want to run. Defending means when you’re close to the opponent, you take the ball and win it.”
“We’re not top in that. Nico helped us, but especially on the ball; he moves much, much better in the right positions, much (more) clever and aware of the spaces free. He’s so young, a lovely guy. I’m really pleased because these types of football players that are incredibly coachable – they deserve the best!”
The Man City star looked to be on the way out of the club
Even respected sources such as journalist Fabrizio Romano were reporting that City were open to offers for Nico in the summer, despite the fact that he had only been at the club for 6 months.
Those stories were subsequently dismissed, and he is now beginning to show what he is truly capable of in a sky-blue shirt.
