‘To Be Honest, There’s No Hope’ ‘Conceding Too Many Goals’ City Fans Issue Top 4 Verdict After Brentford Fightback

Share

Manchester City conceded two late goals against Brentford on Tuesday evening, ceding more ground to those above them in the Premier League table.

The fact that Chelsea also drew means that Pep Guardiola’s side are still only two points adrift of the top four.

However, with the Cityzens facing the Blues next week, supporters on X are not optimistic about the club’s chances of Champions League qualification unless the squad is significantly improved:

City are addressing their weaknesses in the transfer market

The club’s defensive record has been particularly poor this season, with the two goals let in at the Gtech Community Stadium taking their goals-against tally to 29 in 20 matches.

From the looks of things, though, the recruitment team are looking to address City’s problems at the back, with Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis set to move to the Etihad this month.

Both are young players so there are still questions over whether either of them will make a significant impact straight away.

Guardiola’s team have some tough league games coming up

The Premier League champions take on Ipswich away from home in their next fixture prior to the aforementioned match against Chelsea.

They then travel to the Emirates for the clash versus Arsenal at the start of February before games against Newcastle (h), Liverpool (h), Tottenham (a), Nottingham Forest (a) and Brighton (h).
