Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has heaped praise on Max Dowman ahead of the Premier League clash against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
The Gunners return to league action against the Cottagers on the road on Saturday. Ahead of the game, Gabriel was interviewed by Sky Sports.
The centre-back was asked about the most skilful player in Arsenal training.
The Brazilian was quick to respond with Dowman’s name and said that he is ‘unbelievable’ and ‘crazy’, having made a huge impression at just 15.
He told Sky Sports: “This guy is unbelievable. This is crazy, crazy. I have never seen something like him on the pitch.”
Dowman was a regular in first-team training last season, but he was ineligible to play because he had not turned 15 before August 31 (last year).
The youngster went on to shine for Arsenal in pre-season this summer with some stand-out displays.
He was rewarded with a Premier League debut against Leeds United in August where he earned a late penalty in a convincing 5-0 victory.
Dowman has since made only two more appearances for the Gunners, but one of those was against Liverpool in the league at Anfield.
With Arsenal trailing 1-0, the teenage sensation got the nod for a late cameo while the likes of Leandro Trossard and Ethan Nwaneri were unused substitutes.
Manager Mikel Arteta believes in Dowman’s immense talent and potential, and the club’s faithful will surely be looking forward to more minutes for him.
Arsenal face their London counterparts Fulham on the road on Saturday. The Gunners have failed to beat the Cottagers in the last two away league trips.
They have the opportunity to end the away winless streak at Fulham and pile more pressure on second-placed Liverpool, who are just one point behind.
Arne Slot’s side host Manchester United on Sunday. A victory at Craven Cottage would add extra burden on the Reds before the North-West derby.
