Man City target Maghnes Akliouche has not completely ruled out leaving Monaco before the transfer window closes tomorrow evening.
Reports earlier this month had suggested that the Frenchman was being eyed as a ‘cheaper’ alternative to Real Madrid’s Rodrygo. Asked about his future, Akliouche replied:
“We know that in football anything can happen and things move very quickly, but I feel good here at Monaco.”
Akliouche’s asking price is believed to be between €70m (£60.6m) and €80m (£69m), although there are indications that Monaco could be open to doing business for less than that.
Man City are not the only club interested in Akliouche
Manchester United and Tottenham have also been linked with an approach for the 23-year-old in recent weeks, so there is still a chance that he could end up in England ahead of the transfer deadline on Monday evening.
As Akliouche points out, things can move quickly, but for the time being, it does look like he will be staying in the south of France.
A bid for Rodrygo has been ruled out
The Real Madrid star took to social media on Friday following the Champions League draw stating that he wants to win Real’s 16th European Cup. That has been interpreted to mean that he won’t be going anywhere this summer.
Rodrygo had been tipped to leave the Bernabeu due to a lack of game time, and it had been claimed that Real would not have stood in his way if he wanted to go. A fee of around €90m (£78m) to €100m (£86.6m) would have been needed to secure his services anyway.
The Brazilian’s arrival would have allowed Savinho to move to Spurs, but it appears the 21-year-old will be staying at the Etihad now.
