Sean Dyche Praises One Of Guardiola’s “Best Signings” Who Could Be Sold By Man City In The Next 2 Weeks

Ex-Burnley and Everton manager Sean Dyche has named Ederson as one of Pep Guardiola’s “best signings” for Man City.

Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast, Dyche was full of praise for the Brazilian’s ability to hit pinpoint accurate long balls to his teammates:

“It’s one of his [Pep Guardiola’s] best signings for me, because he could crack that flat one about 70 yards.”

Dyche was responding to a comment made by fellow podcast host Sam Allardyce who claims Ederson’s kicking is often underappreciated:

“They forget how many balls the goalkeeper smashes long. He’s brilliant. He doesn’t get talked about at Man City.”

Will Ederson be at the Etihad much longer?

Galatasaray are said to be very keen on signing the City keeper. However, the Turkish champions’ opening bid was reportedly just €10m (£8.6m).

That fee is significantly below Ederson’s €25m (£21.6m) asking price, and it casts doubt on whether the 32-year-old will leave the Etihad Stadium before the transfer window closes on September 1st.

If a compromise on the valuation can’t be found, it could have consequences for City’s attempts to buy his replacement, Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, as well.

Man City currently have 4 first-team goalkeepers

In addition to Ederson, manager Pep Guardiola also has the likes of James Trafford, Stefan Ortega and Marcus Bettinelli available for selection.

Even if Ederson does end up leaving, the potential arrival of Donnarumma from PSG would suggest that another shot-stopper could be offloaded over the next couple of weeks.

With Trafford and Bettinelli having only arrived in Manchester this summer, it would suggest that Ortega may potentially follow Ederson out the door if a club can be found for him. There is scope for significant changes in the keeper department before deadline day.
