Man City Set To Make ‘Official’ £30M Bid For Kyle Walker Replacement

Share

Manchester City are expected to make an “official” offer worth €35m (£30m) for Flamengo right-back Wesley, according to reports in the Brazilian media.

Coluna Do Fla claim that the 21-year-old has already given his approval to joining Pep Guardiola’s side, despite interest from other teams.

It is believed that both Arsenal and Manchester United have also registered an interest in Wesley, while the likes of Liverpool, Inter Milan, Juventus, Chelsea, Newcastle and Barcelona have considered making a move for the defender too.

However, it appears as if the Cityzens have stolen a march on their rivals, with the club having made the most concrete steps to secure the fullback’s signature.

Flamengo may hold out for a high transfer fee

Coluna Do Fla report that City’s €35m (£30m) bid would fall short of Flamengo’s €45m (£38m) asking price and the Brazilian club’s board will have to decide whether to accept the proposal or negotiate.

Of course, any delay could allow rivals to make their own move for Wesley, but the feeling is that City are in pole position to snap him up at the moment.

What does City’s move for Wesley mean for Walker?

Kyle Walker is currently on loan at AC Milan until the end of the season. The Rossoneri do have an option to sign the fullback on a permanent basis but it has been claimed that he will return to the Etihad this summer. With the 34-year-old still having a year left on his contract, a decision will need to be made on his future.

The move for Wesley does suggest that the club are anticipating Walker’s permanent exit. Newcastle’s Tino Livramento and Juventus’s Nicolo Savona have also been considered as potential replacements but it appears the Brazilian is the favoured candidate.
