Man City winger Oscar Bobb has played down any concerns about his fitness heading into Sunday’s derby against Manchester United.
Despite playing the full 90 minutes against Brighton prior to the international break, Norway boss Stale Solbakken subsequently confirmed that the 22-year-old underwent a scan on a suspected injury. However, Bobb said the results were positive:
“It was nothing. I felt something in my thigh, and then it turned out there was nothing.”
Bobb played the full game in Norway’s 1-0 friendly win over Finland on Thursday, so there are clearly no issues with his fitness.
The forward is likely to start against Moldova in a World Cup qualifier tomorrow (Tuesday, 9th September) as well.
Bobb has yet to find his best form
Despite manager Pep Guardiola selecting him to start Man City’s first three Premier League games, the Norwegian international is still searching for top gear.
Bobb did start the campaign brightly at Molineux, coming up with an assist for Tijjani Reijnders’ first goal against Wolves during the 4-0 victory on the opening day.
However, he did struggle more in the subsequent fixtures versus Tottenham and Brighton. He is far from the finished article.
Man City injury news ahead of the Man United game
While the update on Bobb’s fitness is positive, there isn’t such good news for John Stones. The defender had to pull out of international duty with England, having sustained a muscular injury.
Stones joins 8 others on the treatment table. Abdukodir Khasanov is also a doubt to face United, having picked up a knock in the second half of the 2-1 defeat to Brighton at the end of last month.
Phil Foden (ankle), Mateo Kovacic (Achilles), Savinho, Josko Gvardiol (both knocks), Rayan Cherki (thigh), Kalvin Phillips (Achilles) and Marcus Bettinelli are currently unavailable too.
