Manchester City had representatives watching Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown on Thursday night, according to reports.
The German Under 21 international played the full 90 minutes as Frankfurt drew the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final against Tottenham.
TBRFootball claim that the Cityzens had scouts in attendance to keep an eye on Brown’s progress, along with West Ham.
Arsenal have also reportedly been watching the 21-year-old in recent months. The Gunners had observers present at the Spurs game too, but is it believed they were primarily there to watch other players.
What do City fans need to know about Brown?
The defender was born in Amberg but he does have American ancestry. He came through Nuremberg’s academy prior to joining Frankfurt for €3m at the start of 2024.
Brown was loaned back to Nuremberg for the second half of last season before linking up with his new team back in July.
The German wasn’t selected in the first team for the first couple of months of the 2024/25 campaign, and he was omitted from the Europa League squad for the group stage. However, by early November, Brown had firmly established himself as a regular starter. He has been used as both a wingback and a more conventional fullback across the 26 games he has played so far.
Two other Frankfurt players are also targets
TBRFootball report that City, West Ham and Arsenal were also keen to see Hugo Ekitike and Hugo Larsson. The former opened the scoring against Spurs, but despite his impressive performances, it is unlikely that Pep Guardiola’s side will target him, after signing his teammate Omar Marmoush instead back in January.
Larsson, on the other hand, could well be the subject of a bid from the current Premier League champions. The Swedish international has attracted plenty of attention over the course of this season.
