Man City have entered the race to sign Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo, according to reports.
The likes of Tottenham, Manchester United and Liverpool have been credited with an interest in the 25-year-old over the past few weeks.
However, TEAMtalk claim that the Cityzens are emerging as a major threat in the battle for Semenyo, with Spurs and Liverpool deemed to be their main rivals.
It is believed that manager Pep Guardiola sees the Congolese international as “tailor-made” for his system.
Semenyo has been described as a “game-changer” who could add another dimension to City’s attack.
Bournemouth won’t let him leave without a fight
It should be pointed out that Semenyo signed a new contract with the Cherries in July, keeping him at the Vitality Stadium until the summer of 2030.
That means Bournemouth are in a very strong negotiating position, with TEAMTtalk reporting that a fee in excess of £75m would be required to prise him away from the South Coast.
A lot may hinge on whether Semenyo will push for a move. He decided not to press for transfers to Arsenal and Newcastle before the start of the season, despite receiving concrete interest from both teams. The forward will be tempted to leave for a bigger club at some point, so he could be intrigued by what City could offer him.
Man City have been linked with several wingers
Semenyo is by no means the only wide player that Director of Football Hugo Viana has looked at. Real Madrid’s Rodrygo was a concrete target but the Brazilian has made it clear that he wants to stay at the Bernabeu.
Reports in the German press claim there is interest in Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise as well, but the Frenchman would cost considerably more than Semenyo, with an asking price of around €100m (£87m).
