Considerable progress is being made on new contracts for Arsenal stars Bukayo Saka and William Saliba, according to the Independent journalist Miguel Delaney.
He claimed in his ‘Inside Football’ bi-weekly newsletter today that the Gunners are now closer to extending the deals of two of their most important players.
Arsenal handed Leandro Trossard improved terms earlier this week, increasing his wages but not the length of his current contract.
The likes of Gabriel Magalhaes, Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly have recently committed their future to the North London club, and Saka and Saliba could be next.
Their current deals expire in the summer of 2027, and Real Madrid are monitoring the situation of the Frenchman.
The France international centre-back has been a long-term target of the Spanish club, and they are hoping to make a concrete move for him next summer.
Madrid know Arsenal could be forced to sell Saliba at the end of the season if he has not signed a contract extension by then.
However, it appears a deal is now close to being struck between the Gunners and their prized defender.
Saka will also be getting a deserved extension having proven to be a very crucial player to the first-team since making his debut in November 2018.
The arrivals of Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard would have played a huge role.
Arsenal are also set to add Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze to their squad in the coming hours, and they have proven their ambition with those signings.
Saliba and Saka have been convinced that the Gunners are serious about becoming regular and strong challengers for the Premier League title and Champions League.
The new deals for the duo could be wrapped up in the coming weeks, and an official confirmation will look like the signing of new players in the eyes of the fans.
