Chelsea’s Cole Palmer has included Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne in his four greatest Premier League players.
Palmer was asked by Sky Sport New Zealand to come up with his ‘Mount Rushmore” for the Premier League era.
As well as naming De Bruyne, he also selected former Chelsea winger Eden Hazard, Arsenal icon Thierry Henry and ex-Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo.
It is not a complete surprise that Palmer was keen to include De Bruyne, having played alongside him during his time at the Cityzens.
De Bruyne could play his final game for City this weekend
Pep Guardiola’s side take on Fulham at Craven Cottage in their last fixture of the domestic season on Sunday afternoon.
De Bruyne’s contract with the Cityzens does expire at the end of June, so there were suggestions that he would play in the Club World Cup next month. Guardiola’s men have group matches against Wydad AC, Al Ain and Juventus.
However, after losing the FA Cup final to Crystal Palace, De Bruyne strongly hinted that he would not play in the tournament, citing the fact that he didn’t want to risk injury ahead of a transfer away from the Etihad.
Which club could the Man City legend join?
Serie A champions Napoli have tabled a contract offer to De Bruyne. The Italian side are said to be pushing hard to secure his signature.
A move to the United States can’t be ruled out either. Chicago Fire declared their interest in the Belgian international all the way back in March and they are willing to make him one of the best-paid players in MLS history.
Whatever De Bruyne decides to do, he will go down as one of the best players not only in City’s history but in the Premier League as well.
