Chelsea are reportedly looking at an experienced 30-year-old midfielder to sign as a free agent marquee arrival.
Those are the kind of signings Chelsea don’t usually do anymore these days under the new ownership. But if there is a chance to get a player for free without a massive fee, then I guess there is a chance that it could happen, even if very slim.

Chelsea are being freshly linked with former Lazio star Sergej Milinković-Savić this week, with the player now playing his football for Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.
According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport (cited by Blue Footy on X), Chelsea are interested in signing Sergej Milinković-Savić as a free agent when his contract at Al-Hilal expires in 2026. The Blues see him as a high-potential marquee signing.
Chelsea have been linked with the midfielder quite a lot over time, including quite recent in 2023 when he was still playing in Europe.
And there was also a link the year before that in 2022, as there has been for most years really before he joined Al-Hilal.
A very experienced addition
If there is any truth at all to this rumour, he would be a very experienced addition to a young Chelsea side and the kind of signing that many Blues fans have been asking for to add to the talented pool of young players they have in their squad.
Highly unlikely
Without researching, I’d imagine that he’s on super high wages in Saudi, something that Chelsea would not be able to get near.
This is why I see this rumour as being a highly unlikely despite Chelsea have recent interest in the midfielder.
