Chelsea hold initial talks over potential move for Rafael Leao

Chelsea currently have the most advanced interest in AC Milan’s Rafael Leao and have initiated informal contact over a potential deal according to reports.

The Blues are once again set for a busy summer and could look to sell as many as seven or eight players in order to fund their business.

Chelsea face a critical window with the club looking to sign a striker, centre back and right footed attacker to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Whilst a striker is the main priority the Blues are also in the market for a winger and have been linked with both Jamie Gittens and Nico Williams who’s been described as a “dream” target.

However, it appears they could be exploring a move for another name, and Caught Offside have reported the Blues have initiated informal contact over a possible deal for the Portugal international.

The report adds Leao has a release clause of €175m but it’s understood AC Milan could sell him for around €75m, with Arsenal and Al Nassr also interested

Caught Offside state Chelsea’s interest is currently the most advanced, with initial talks already underway for the 25-year-old.

Chelsea have previously been linked with Leao, and the Portuguese has 12 goals and 13 assists in 48 appearances in all competitions.

Estevao and Quenda also arriving

Chelsea have a number of wide options already and Brazilian sensation Estevao will arrive after the Club World Cup.

The Blues also have another top talent arriving in 2026 after agreeing a deal in March with Sporting Lisbon for Geovany Quenda.

Given Mykahilo Mudryk’s continued absence following a positive doping test the Blues are rightly exploring the market.

However, given the names coming, would a big money move for Leao make sense as despite his talent he’s also still hugely inconsistent.
