Fabrizio Romano has reported Bournemouth have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic for £25m.
The Serb excelled on loan at Strasbourg last season and was named their Player of the Season as the Ligue 1 side qualified for the Conference League.
Petrovic was expected to challenge for the number one shirt next season, but he was left out of the Club World Cup squad, and now has a new home.
Djordje Petrovic to join Bournemouth for £25m
Petrovic is heading to the south coast to join the Cherries where he will replace another former Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, and Romano has provided the details.
He took to X.com and said:
“Djordje Petrović to Bournemouth, here we go!
“After official bid revealed this week for £25m, Chelsea accept all final conditions. Petrović will undergo medical in the next days, as @David_Ornstein reports.
“#AFCB always been favorite while Petrović signs long term deal.”
It’s been reported Petrovic will undergo his medical next week and will sign a five year deal with Andoni Iraola’s side.
Petrovic was said to have a gentleman’s agreement with Chelsea that he could leave for £25m, and it’s good to see the club have stuck to that.
Whilst a lot of supporters will be disappointed not to see Petrovic as the number one next season, the Blues have banked a profit considering they only paid £14m for the 25-year-old in 2023.
Mike Penders set to join Strasbourg on loan
With Petrovic on his way to Bournemouth, it looks like Mike Penders will also be leaving the club this summer, but only on a temporary basis.
Chelsea are said to have high hopes for Penders, and are keen to avoid a situation where he spends three consecutive seasons on loan like Thibaut Courtois.
However, it looks like the teenager is set to join Strasbourg on loan for the next step in his development, which makes logical sense.
