The representatives of Napoli midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa have “offered” him to Manchester City and Manchester United, according to reports in Italy.
Earlier this week, it was claimed that Chelsea were leading Monaco in the race to snap up the former Fulham star this summer.
However, AreaNapoli.it say that Anguissa is also being touted to other Premier League teams as they try to secure the player a move back to England.
The 29-year-old would have had just a year left on his contract at the end of the season but Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has triggered an option which extends his stay for another twelve months.
Even so, it is believed that Anguissa’s sale will still be sanctioned over the coming weeks if a team matches his valuation.
City need to strengthen in midfield
It’s likely that Pep Guardiola’s side will reinforce their options in the middle of the park this summer. It is expected that Kalvin Phillips will be allowed to leave the Etihad on a permanent basis, while it has already been announced that Kevin De Bruyne will depart on a free transfer.
With doubts over the futures of Ilkay Gundogan, Mateo Kovacic and Bernardo Silva too, the midfield is an area where there could be a lot of changes over the course of the next transfer window.
Anguissa is not among the club’s targets
While it appears the agency representing the Napoli star has informed City of his availability, he is not expected to be included on the list of players that Director of Football Hugo Viana will be pursuing.
AC Milan’s Tijjani Reijnders, Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton, Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White, Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz and Atalanta’s Ederson are just some of the midfielders who have been linked with a transfer to the Cityzens in recent months.
