£310K p/w Midfielder Has Contract Offer ‘Withdrawn’ As Man City, Arsenal And Liverpool Ponder Free Transfer Swoop

Manchester City target Joshua Kimmich’s future at Bayern Munich looks uncertain following reports that a contract offer has been “withdrawn” by the Bundesliga club.

German tabloid Bild claim that the midfielder was offered a new deal worth slightly more than the €20m a year (£318,000 a week) he is currently earning.

However, after Kimmich delayed his decision to put pen to paper on the extension, it is believed that Bayern’s board have decided to rescind the proposal.

With the 30-year-old’s contract set to expire at the end of this season, the player looks increasingly likely to leave the Allianz Arena on a free transfer.

Premier League clubs are circling Kimmich

Bild don’t name any interested teams by name but they do say that the German international has “received offers from top foreign clubs.”

Kimmich is allowed to speak directly with teams outside of Germany due to his contract situation and it’s possible that City have been in contact.

Reports last summer named the Cityzens (along with Arsenal and Liverpool) as potential suitors for the player.

City are in the market for another midfielder

Despite spending £49.8m on Nico Gonzalez during the January transfer window, it has been claimed that Pep Guardiola’s side will be looking to add more midfield options this summer, along with a new right-back.

There are doubts over the futures of Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Matheus Nunes and Mateo Kovacic, while Ilkay Gundgoan is also expected to leave the Etihad.

With that in mind, City’s continued interest in Kimmich is not surprising. He played under Guardiola during the Spaniard’s last season as Bayern head coach and the pair do have a pretty close relationship. There is the potential for the pair to be reunited over the coming months.
