Shashank Singh was picked by Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the IPL 2024 auction. The right-handed batter proved his worth, smashing 354 runs at a strike rate of 164.65. He played a key role in securing victories with consistent performances in the middle and lower order.
Punjab Kings retained him ahead of the 2025 mega auction, and Singh carried his form into the new season as well. He scored over 350 runs across 14 innings at a strike rate above 150.
The middle-order batter also shone in the final, scoring an unbeaten 61 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). However, the Shreyas Iyer-led side fell short by just six runs in the title clash. Singh is expected to be retained by PBKS for the upcoming season.
India Set To Open Asia Cup 2025 Campaign On September 10
The Asia Cup 2025 is set to be played in the T20 format. As per the schedule, the tournament will begin on September 9 in the United Arab Emirates, with matches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. India, the designated hosts, are placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, UAE, and Oman.
Team India will open their campaign against the UAE on September 10 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. They will play their second group-stage match against Pakistan on September 14 and conclude their group fixtures against Oman on September 19.
Group B includes Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Hong Kong. The Super 4 stage will begin on September 20, with the tournament culminating in the final on September 28.
