In a major shake-up to their support staff, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have secured the services of Bharat Arun as their new bowling coach for the upcoming seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The former India bowling coach, who is celebrated for his role in transforming India’s pace battery into a formidable force, joins LSG after a successful tenure with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), where he was instrumental in their 2024 title-winning campaign.
Bharat Arun joins LSG after successful stint with KKR
According to a report in Cricbuzz, Arun has signed a two-year deal with the Sanjiv Goenka-owned franchise. Under this agreement, he will be closely involved with the players year-round, helping the side develop its bowling resources for sustained success in the league. Arun’s decision to move to LSG comes shortly after KKR parted ways with head coach Chandrakant Pandit. According to sources, Arun’s departure was amicable, with KKR adhering to their long-standing policy of not obstructing the professional growth of their staff. With Dwayne Bravo playing a prominent role in KKR’s bowling plans, it was mutually agreed that Arun could explore a new challenge.

Zaheer Khan and Justin Langer likely to exit
The arrival of Arun signals the likely departure of Zaheer Khan, who served as LSG’s mentor during the previous season. Zaheer’s one-year contract with the franchise has not been renewed yet, and chances of an extension appear slim. Similarly, head coach Justin Langer’s future with the team remains under review as the management considers a complete overhaul of its coaching setup. Now, with Arun on board, LSG will aim to strengthen their coaching structure and sharpen their bowling attack ahead of IPL 2026.
