Newcastle fullback Tino Livramento says he is unaware of interest from Manchester City.
The England international is said to be a top target for Pep Guardiola’s side, but when asked directly about a potential move to the Etihad, he replied:
“I don’t know anything about that.”
When discussing his plans for the future, Livramento said that he was concentrating on playing well for England at the European Under-21 Championships:
“I am very much focused on what I am doing here now. “Being away here with the under-21s is my main priority. I like to stay in the moment and focus on what I can do to help the team now.”
Man City are not expected to push for a deal
Some reports suggest that Newcastle may only consider selling Livramento for a fee in excess of £70m, while the player himself is unlikely to put pressure on his club for a transfer.
It means the Cityzens will either have to get ‘buy-in” from the player via negotiations with his agent or opt to move on to other targets.
Director of Football Hugo Viana is reportedly mindful of the fact that negotiations for Livramento could be long and drawn out so he may decide to pursue more attainable options instead.
Who are the alternatives to Livramento?
City did seriously consider signing Andrea Cambiaso from Juventus in January but it is believed that interest in the Italian international has cooled considerably.
His teammate Nicolo Savona has been looked at as well, while Flamengo’s Wesley is also believed to be on the club’s radar.
With Kyle Walker expected to depart over the coming weeks, Viana’s main focus for the rest of the summer will be to find a suitable replacement.
In other news, a Man City target (who was tipped to replace Kevin De Bruyne) is still interested in making the switch to Manchester
