Thierry Henry Pays Tribute To “Monster” Man City Star Who Has Had Incredible Start To The Season

Ex-Arsenal striker Thierry Henry was effusive in his praise of Erling Haaland after the forward scored his 6th goal of the season in Man City’s 2-0 win over Napoli midweek.

The Norwegian opened the scoring at the Etihad on Thursday night, and speaking as a pundit on CBS Sports, Henry waxed lyrical about the striker and his ability to find the back of the net:

“They find a way, and the way they did it by the way, the pass of Phil Foden, that finish from the monster.”

“We already know when it comes to goals, and anything that happens in the box, you know, at his age, what he did, the amount of goals, nobody can talk to him when it comes to that.

Haaland has just broken another scoring record

The 25-year-old became the quickest player to score 50 goals in the Champions League with his strike against Napoli. He reached the milestone in just 49 games.

To put that in context, Lionel Messi reached 50 after 66 appearances, while Kylian Mbappe managed it in 79. Up until now, the record was actually held by former Man United and Real Madrid star Ruud van Nistelrooy, who had reached the total in 62 matches.

The Man City striker’s record against Arsenal

Pep Guardiola’s side will be travelling to the Emirates this weekend to take on the Gunners, and Haaland’s goal total against Mikel Arteta’s side is pretty decent.

In 8 appearances for the Cityzens, the Norwegian international has scored 4 times and provided 2 assists.

While the Manchester club did not win either Premier League fixture last season, Haaland did get on the scoresheet in both games, including the 5-1 defeat at the Emirates. City will, of course, be hoping for a very different outcome when they face Arsenal on Sunday evening.
