Arsenal face Liverpool on the road in Sunday’s much-awaited Premier League clash.
The Gunners have had the perfect start to the campaign with victories over Manchester United and Leeds United.
They will be aiming to extend the streak against the Reds at Anfield, where they have not been victorious since 2012.
Ahead of the game, we anticipate manager Mikel Arteta to make two changes from the 5-0 rout of Leeds at home.
Formation: 4-3-3
Predicted Line-up:
David Raya has had a perfect beginning with back-to-back clean sheets. The Spaniard has pulled off some quality saves and can anticipate a much busier game at Anfield tomorrow.
It should be the same back four from last weekend. Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori should feature in the full-back roles, with William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes in the heart of the defence.
Timber was phenomenal against Leeds with two goals and an assist. He should make the XI at right-back ahead of Ben White, who is doubtful for the game after an injury sustained against United on the road.
There is the temptation to field Lewis-Skelly over Calafiori at left-back due to his better defensive traits, but Arteta should back the latter on the back of two fantastic performances to start the season.
Calafiori scored the winner at Old Trafford and bagged a couple of assists against Leeds.
Elsewhere, Martin Zubimendi will occupy the number six role. Declan Rice could have a new central midfield partner, with Martin Odegaard being a big doubt due to a shoulder problem sustained last weekend.
If Odegaard is not deemed fit to start, we are backing Eberechi Eze to make his debut from the off. He could get the nod ahead of Ethan Nwaneri due to his better work rate and physical presence.
With Bukayo Saka injured, Noni Madueke looks poised to feature on the right wing. In that case, Gabriel Martinelli will likely start on the opposite flank with Leandro Trossard deemed doubtful.
Martinelli has a phenomenal record against the Reds with eight goal contributions from 12 outings, and scored in the 2-2 comeback draw at Anfield towards the end of the previous campaign.
The Brazilian star could be a trump card for the Gunners versus Arne Slot’s side. Nwaneri and Dowman could be introduced off the bench by the manager depending on the game situation.
Viktor Gyokeres is guaranteed to lead the line with Kai Havertz injured. The Swede bagged a brace on his home debut and will be aiming to replicate his showing against the Premier League holders.
