Club Are ‘Ready To Obliterate Their Transfer Record’ To Sign Man City Ace

Tottenham are expected to table a huge offer for Manchester City winger Savinho, according to reports.

TEAMtalk claim that Thomas Frank’s side are “ready to obliterate their transfer record” in order to secure the Brazilian international’s signature.

The most that Spurs have ever paid for one player is the £65m they spent on Dominic Solanke at the start of last season.

It is believed that they could go as high as €85m (£73.6m) for Savinho, which they hope will tempt the Cityzens into letting him go.

Up until now, there has been a reluctance to sanction the departure of the 21-year-old, with the Manchester club still keen on retaining his services.

Savinho’s transfer stance could prove decisive

It does appear as if the player’s head has been turned. TEAMtalk say that he is pressing for a transfer to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He is aware that Thomas Frank is a keen admirer and would give him a key role.

Even so, it should be pointed out that Savinho has not been a bit-part player under Guardiola. The forward started 36 times in all competitions last season.

Guardiola isn’t one for keeping unhappy players, though, and if the Brazilian insists on leaving, he would not stand in his way.

Man City already have a replacement lined up

It has been pretty obvious for a while who Guardiola wants to sign if Savinho does move to Spurs. He would like Real Madrid’s Rodrygo.

Of course, any deal for the 24-year-old still depends on the player. At the time of writing, he has not asked to leave the Bernabeu despite it being clear that he will not have a prominent role in the plans of head coach Xabi Alonso.

If City do receive €85m+ for Savinho, it could be directly invested into purchasing Rodrygo, who could be on the market for a similar fee.
