Sheffield Wednesday striker Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri is “close to finalising a move to Manchester City”, according to The Star journalist Joe Crann.
It is believed that a £1.5m fee has been agreed between the two clubs, with the 15-year-old expected to complete a medical on his return to the UK later this month.
Wednesday are experiencing some financial issues. They are currently the subject of multiple charges from the EFL for failing to meet payment obligations.
Owls’ owner Dejphon Chansiri has been charged specifically for “causing the club to be in breach of EFL Regulations.”
It means Wednesday are in need of cash and they are believed to have demanded most of the £1.5m up front for Cadamarteri.
What do fans need to know about Cadamarteri?
The forward is the son of former Everton player Danny Cadamarteri and the younger brother of Bailey (who is also on Wednesday’s books).
Caelan-Kole has played for both Scotland and England at youth level, but he has yet to make his senior debut. The youngster featured for the Owls in the FA Youth Cup last season, starting the 3-1 defeat to Bristol City in the third round.
Man City have just signed another young striker
In addition to Cadamarteri, the Cityzens have wrapped up a deal for Paris Saint-Germain forward Mahamadou Sangare.
The 18-year-old caught the attention of the club with his performances in the UEFA Youth League last campaign, when he scored hat-tricks against Bayern Munich and Red Bull Salzburg in the group stages.
In all competitions, Sangare scored 33 goals in just 35 appearances for PSG’s Under-19s. He has also been capped by France at Under 18 level.
Both Sangare and Cadamarteri are set to join the academy setup at the Etihad Campus but they could well get first-team appearances soon enough.
In other news, Man City are expected to loan out a Norwegian attacking midfielder if he seals his switch to Manchester
